Blink

Davis was only 2 when his powers manifested. He and his family were in the living room when Davis declared in his two-year-old mind that he wanted a juice box, and that he was going to get it himself. He stood, took a step forward and... was in front of the refrigerator, ready to pull it open and get what he wanted.

His parents were baffled. In the blink of an eye, their son had traveled fifteen yards from his playpen to the fridge without disturbing a single obstacle. The fridge door opened, and another two seconds saw their son with a juice box, sitting silently in his playpen.

They freaked.

John Corner, private pilot and father of two, decided that moment that he wanted to be John Corner, private pilot and father of one. While his wife dissolved into hysterics, screaming that her precious son had been replaced by a demon, John picked up his son and took him upstairs to his room. He packed a suitcase with his son's favorite clothes, packed a couple toys and his favorite stuffed animal, then carried the suitcase and his son to their car. After securing the boy in his carseat, and packing the suitcase in the trunk, John left his suburban apartment.

At 4:30pm Monday morning, a brown Jeep Cherokee arrived at Fulton City Orphanage. A man got out of the vehicle and came around the side, opening a backseat door and pulling out a carseat. He opened his trunk door and retrieved a suitcase, and carried both the carseat and the suitcase to the front door of the orphanage. He set the two items on the ground, hastily scribbled a note with his son's first name on it, secured the note underneath his son, knocked twice on the door, and hurriedly walked back to his car.

Without so much as a second glance, John Corner got into his Jeep, started it up, and drove away.

Two minutes later, the front door of the orphanage opened, and the headmistress came upon the child in the carseat. She took his suitcase and carseat inside, shutting the door behind her. Davis was alone.
